It’s been awhile since our last post but the passion hasn’t waned. In fact, it has continued to grow, with more and more people contacting us everyday to get involved. There are no lack of trail projects ready to build, all we need is the green light. The goal this summer is to ramp up recruitment and empower the YTS with recreation professionals, experienced communicators, and passionate volunteers who are enthusiastic about promoting our vision. It’s an exciting time with unlimited potential to build the trail infrastructure that will enable our community to thrive.

Many of us have heard of Blue Zones, but it’s a very uncommon occurrence in the United States. According to Wikipedia, a blue zone is a region in the world where people are claimed to have exceptionally long lives beyond the age of 100 due to a lifestyle combining physical activity, low stress, rich social interactions, a local whole foods diet, and low disease incidence. Currently the only location in the United States that qualifies as a Blue Zone is Loma Linda, California. Why can’t it be Nevada County? We have what it takes to make our community a longevity hub-exceptional weather conducive to year round activity, a climate perfect for growing organic food, and a vibrant population that supports accessible pedestrian infrastructure. We are up and coming. Stay tuned world.
