This is Sydney, one of our AmeriCorps members who’s excited about helping in our efforts to get Yuba Trails Stewardship moving forward to grow with Nevada County. She came out to Nevada City, CA from Virginia after serving another AmeriCorps Program with the Virginia Service and Conservation Corps as a Resource Crew member, so joining us by way of the Sierra Nevada AmeriCorps Program (SNAP) makes this her second term serving with AmeriCorps.
Before joining AmeriCorps, Sydney was attending University of Central Florida, where she graduated in May of 2018 with a bachelors of science in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a minor in Environmental Studies. While in college she volunteered with the Campus Activities Board, where she was a marketing coordinator and the undercover volunteer coordinator for the the Comedy Committee. While participating on the Campus Activities Board, she got to meet some pretty cool comedians, such as John Mulaney. Some long-term goals for her future career include to one day incorporate the ocean and marine animals into daily work life. She hopes to work with a non profit organization rehabilitation center for marine animals or for NOAA. Sydney’s goals while serving her 1700 AmeriCorps hours with the Yuba Trails Stewardship include helping to get the organization moving forward with volunteers and bringing the community together to effectively support our local trails.
